Flexible application of the IR heating as building heating and additional heating

Electric IR heaters are not only ideal for complete building heating, but also as additional heating systems. One reason for this is the fact that infrared heaters allow an absolutely flexible application.

This flexibility arises, on the one hand, from the fact that power lines can be easily led to any location in the room. On the other hand, infrared heating systems are available in a broad variety of design shapes, designs and dimensions. Even with very unfavorable room conditions, a suitable solution can always be found for radiator installation.

Placement of heaters

Like radiators of a central heating system, infrared heaters can also be installed under the window sill. For the basic equipment mostly simple white heating panels are used because they are optically neutral. Sometimes Infrared heater with RAL colors are used to create interesting accents. Also an natural stone heating panel can contribute to an attractiv room design.

In rooms with windows which reach down to the bottom an IR heater is simply mounted on some free wall surface. This can be near the window or everywhere else in the room. The panels can be mounted close to the ground, at image height or even above a door post.

In addition, it is also possible to attach IR heaters to the ceiling. As with underfloor heating systems, no precious wall-space is lost in such a type of building heating. However, in contrast to the floor heating, there will no strong floor convection emerged. That´s why the air becomes not dry and dusty.

As a building heating system, infrared panels under the ceiling are primarily of interest to new buildings, since here a flush-mounted cabling can be provided from the outset. In the case of heating regeneration, wall heating systems are preferred because of the lower installation outlay. In housing stock the use of the infrared ceiling heating is mainly restricted to those rooms in which there is neither sufficient space for radiators under the windows nor at a wall.

Electric heaters are also very well combinable with other heating techniques. A ensemble  with infrared heating is useful for the following heating systems:

  • Convection radiators
  • Underfloor heating
  • Supply air heating (ventilation systems)
  • Wood stove

Central heating systems with convection heaters can be converted to IR radiators. For this reason, electric infrared heating in this area is only necessary when the heating power of the water-driven space heater is too low. If, however, no changeover to IR heating is to be expected from the landlord, tenants often use self-acquired electric heat wave heaters.

Since underfloor heating systems and supply air heaters can not be converted for infrared heating, a more balanced room climate here can only be achieved with IR heaters:

The heat losses on the outside are directly removed by the inflow of infrared radiation. A higher air temperature is not needed for this. Thanks to infrared heating, underfloor heating systems and supply air heaters can therefore be operated at a lower air temperature. This saves heating costs. And the indoor climate is not only more pleasant but also healthier.

As an addition to convection heaters and supply air heaters, electric IR heaters can be used as wall, ceiling or floor heating as desired.

In the case of underfloor heating systems, a ceiling heating system is not recommended because the floor is already heated. A ceiling heating system would increase the soil temperature and thus the soil convection again.

A deficit in infrared radiation is usually found in rooms with floor heating in areas in the upper space. Therefor supplementary IR heating panels should be installed also in the upper half of the room. For optical reasons, image heating systems, mirror heaters or decorative flat heating systems with colored coating are ideal.

The wall mounting in the upper half of the room means that the power line may disturb optically. It makes sense then to put the power cable under plaster.

A combination of infrared heating panel and wood-burning stove is very popular in owner-occupied buildings and holiday houses. Depending on your preference, both electric heating panels and the wood stove can be used as a basic heating system.

If you want to enjoy the cozy and romantic atmosphere that comes from a flickering and crackling fire, you do not necessarily have to accept the disadvantages associated to wood burning. The electric furnace we recommend is a healthy and environmentally friendly alternative:

The electric furnace has a three-dimensional fire simulation with ascending water vapor. The water vapor swaths look like real smoke, but are free of soot and odor. The electrically simulated smoke contributes to a sufficiently high relative humidity. The furnace is also operable without fire simulation.

Relieved facility management (FM)

When IR heaters are used as building heating, building management and complaint acceptance are considerably relieved. Electric heating is maintenance-free. And the quality products recommended by us have a long life.

If a heating surface fails, it can be replaced fast and easy. Facility managers, who want to ensure an immediate exchange, hold one or two reserves heaters in stock.
